Sunday Morning Coffee: Shortwave and Checking In

Shortwave Coffee, 915 Alley A, Columbia, MO

Long time, no chat! This isn’t your regular-schmegular coffee chat and for that I’ll apologize in advance. I don’t know if you guys know, but there’s a pandemic happening. Unfortunate.

I’ve missed talking to people on the internet, so I figured it’s about time I make my return (after four or five months…yikes!). Also, because my manager told me I should and I listen to her sometimes.

Let’s rewind, shall we?

In March, I was living my best life when the pandemic hit so I moved home, dealt with some heavy depression and loads of anxiety, took online classes and finished my freshman year at NYU (sort of?) successfully, got an internship at an amazing entertainment company in NYC (remote, of course), enrolled in summer courses which are now almost over, and am getting ready to head back to New York for the fall semester.

It’s been a rollercoaster of a time, and I can’t lie...I’m incredibly ready to get off of it.

In the last three months since the website launch, I lost all motivation to continue work. I wish I could say that it was as simple as just getting back on the bike, but I really couldn’t do it. I know you know the feeling. It’s not that I don’t love what I do or love working on new projects or even, that I was too busy. I really just didn’t want to do all. Sometimes, you gotta just let that ride it's course, right?

I can’t believe it’s August now. I look back at the progress I’ve made since coming home and dealing with trauma I didn’t even know I had, and I’m amazed with myself. I was healing and I didn’t even know it. It’s incredible what time and rest can do for the soul and the mind.

Today I went to Shortwave coffee with my dad and my sister. No different from any other Sunday that I spend in my hometown, it’s sort of become our routine now. Since this is a coffee chat I'll let you know our orders. I got an iced vanilla latte, my dad had an origin coffee that I can’t spell or pronounce, and my sister had an iced lavender latte. We sat outside the shop on some wooden benches, talking about the upcoming weeks and sparking random conversation, like we do, before heading back to the car and heading home to mom for Sunday morning breakfast.

I want to get into some of the topics of the morning a little later this week and in some future story times, so for now that’s that about that.

Checking in: How are you guys doing right now? As always, the comments are open and we can always chat!

On the agenda for the rest of the night:

Finish this blog and upload

Finish tomorrow’s monthly newsletter (soooo excited! Make sure to subscribe to the site!)

Write out my schedule for tomorrow

Finish Becoming while enjoying some homemade apple pie!!

Since there’s no need to ask dad how his coffee was this morning, I’ll ask you--what are we drinkin lately??
