About
Based On True Events

From rising star & songwriter Piper Page, comes the 12-track debut album Based on True Events. For this project, Piper shows off her “pen” in collaboration with Pop/R&B producers Hunna G and De’Jour, writer and producer Cole Bauer, and production team Nick Axel Kauffman (Vocal Engineer), Jake Mannix (Mix Engineer) and Gabi Grella (Master Engineer).

She combines unique, comedic, and honest storytelling with live instruments and catchy ear-worm beats, to create a record that encapsulates her experiences living, dating, exploring and growing in New York City.

When listening to Based on True Events, picture a romantic comedy playing out in real time in front of your eyes. Piper Page takes you through the memorable stages of dating as a 20 year old in New York City–starting with acknowledging her patterns in “Want What I Can’t Have”. She explains difficulties with being vulnerable in relationships, as well as growing distant from someone you thought you had a solid foundation with in “Weather App”. “Breadcrumbs” tells the familiar story of being led on by someone, while “Do You Want Me Or Not?” asks the question we always want to ask, but never do. “Rose Colored Glasses” and “Nervous” share Piper’s insecurities while dating, and also shed light on her tendency to ignore red flags in order to experience love. The album ends in a light and upbeat way with tracks like “Yesterday’s Makeup”, which tells the relatable story of “the morning after”, while “Serious” – the comedic pop song that’s come to be an audience favorite– ends the album and highlights Piper’s 2022 “Hot Girl Summer” era. Piper wrote Based on True Events as if it was a rant to a best friend, an hour long phone call to your mom, or a vent session with your therapist. This lyrically relatable (and occasionally funny) project just might have you thinking deeper about your relationship wants & desires, and even more–your relationship with yourself.

On "Serious"

"In its rambunctious nature, listening to ‘Serious’ is like stepping into a kaleidoscopic swirl of music. Rushes of shimmering red and gold slip past one ear while glittering greens and yellow wiggle in the tune; however, just as ‘Serious’ has a hint of chaos, Page’s voice acts like an anchor offering clarity in the dance-floor-ready tune."
