About Attentionship

Writing this song was just one big laugh session. This is not a real word, that I know of. But it was the only word I had to describe the gray area I was in at the time. I didn’t want a relationship, and I was tired of situationships and constantly not feeling worthy or valued. So what offered me the attention I wanted, without the strings attached? An Attentionship. After a period of repeatedly putting myself in romantic setups to get hurt, I started to realize that I didn’t really want a relationship at the time and just wanted to experience more.

I wanted this song to be a little bit more groovy and jazzy than the rest, because to me that’s the epitome of sexy. With this song, I was trying to achieve an upbeat and candid track, while still maintaining a laid-back element that exudes “I don’t really care” attitude. I was definitely still in my Stevie Wonder era when I wrote this song. When I brought it to Cole to work on, he executed the vibe perfectly. This song was written by Piper Page and produced by Cole Bauer. It was mixed by Jake “Mannix” Mannix and mastered by Gabi Grella.

Piper Page

“Page combines the rhythmic, rolling percussion of classic 90’s R&B stars like Aaliyah with the irresistible hooks of jazz-infused traditional show tunes.”
